Access panels for tile and paint

An access panel closes off access to meters, taps and manifolds so that it does not catch the eye. Tile panels — Sekret 3.0 and the push-to-open Zhelezyaka Mini — are faced with the same tile as the wall and can be seen only by the joint once laid. The removable AluLight II comes off entirely, which is handy in narrow boxings. The paintable Korob panels close flush and are painted together with the wall. Nevidimka floor hatches are rated for foot traffic and cover inspection points in the floor. The main thing when choosing is not to mix up two sizes: the installation size (the opening in the wall) and the overall size (the outer frame). Both are given on the card of each item.

About this section: Access panels for tile and paint
An access panel is the only way to hide meters, taps, manifolds and filters behind tile and still keep access to them. The concealed tile panels “Sekret 3.0” and “Zhelezyaka Mini” consist of a steel frame and a door on which the same tile as on the wall is glued; after grouting only the joint is visible. The door opens by pushing; the tile on it should be up to 10 mm thick with a 2–3 mm joint and be fixed with epoxy or polyurethane adhesive (class R) — then it sits flush with the wall. The removable aluminium “AluLight II” panels come out of the opening completely; they are fitted only indoors, in vertical walls.
The paintable “Korob 30” panels, with a plasterboard door, go into plasterboard partitions and boxings and are painted together with the wall. The “Nevidimka” floor hatches close access to a cellar and to services under the floor; tile or porcelain is laid into the lid, and the self-lifting version is fitted with gas struts.
The size in the name is the installation opening. Choose the panel so that the opening is 10–20 mm larger than the area you need access to, and so that the tile layout, if possible, matches the grid of wall joints: then the panel really is invisible. Standard sizes from 200×200 to 800×800 mm are in stock, and non-standard ones are brought to order. Price includes VAT, delivery to your address.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the size of a panel?
Go by the installation size — the opening in the wall where the box sits. The overall size is larger by the width of the frame; it matters for fitting the panel into the tile layout.
What is the difference between a tile panel and a paintable one?
A tile panel has a reinforced door with a rim for adhesive and tile, so it carries the weight of the facing. A paintable panel is thinner and designed for a layer of filler and paint.
Will a floor hatch take a person’s weight?
Yes, Nevidimka floor hatches are rated for foot traffic. The 800×800 model is self-lifting, with gas struts.
